If you are currently enrolled in Drawing 2/ Painting 2 this is where you will find details on class assignments.  Remember that assignment deadlines are always posted to the Google Calendar Tab. 
Assignments Sheets are posted here along with the description for each unit. 

Week of June 2 - 6

Tuesday:  Work day to complete final free choice painting for Exam Critique.  Exam Rubric distributed and discussed. Remember this assignment is counting as an assignment grade and as an exam grade.  The Artist Statement write-up will be part of the exam grade. 

Thursday:  Last in class day to work on final free choice painting.  No work time during Exam week  Art Room open until 4:30 today.

Week of May 26 - 30

Wednesday:  Get started with final free choice drawing or painting.  Make sure there is a complex composition and concept.  This project should showcase what you've learned this semester and be one of your best!  Thumbnails  and written proposal were due last Friday

Friday:  Continue working on your final free choice project, due for critique on Exam day. (no exceptions or extensions!)

Week May 19 - 23

Monday:  Work day to finish figure project.  Complex composition, accurate proportions and complex concept are all critical to this project.  Make sure your figure is active in some way and has been portrayed in relationship to a foreground, middle ground and background.

Wednesday:  Critique of figure projects.  Discussion of final project and exam. 

Friday:  Thumbnails and written proposal due by end of class (turn in sketchbook). 
1.  Explain how you will meet the criteria of a complex composition, concept and craftsmanship.
2.  Discuss the media you plan to use and the technique you will use with it (pointillism, impressionistic etc)
3. Explain why this is a meaningful and important topic to you and why you chose it.

Week of May 12 - 16

Tuesday and Thursday:  Work days to complete your Figure Ground Complex composition assignment. 
Due for Critique next Wednesday 5/21.  

Week of May 5- 9

Monday:  Finish Full Figure Drawing from observation during first half of class.  Research and create thumbnails for Figure-Ground Unit.

Wednesday:  Conference with Ms. Bjork to discuss plan.  Get started on Drawing and Painting Figure-Ground

Friday:  Work day on Drawing and Painting Figure-Ground.

Week of April 28 - May 2

Monday:  INTRO to Human Figure and new unit on Figure.  Drawing from the live model.

Wednesday: Continued Live Model Drawing studies, begin thumbnails for your plan for project.  How will you incorporate a complex composition- figure/ground relationship and how will you create a complex conceptual piece? 

Friday:  No class due to B Day Cold Make Up day

Tuesday 4/22:  Last day to work on Handmade Books due next class for critique.

Week of April 7 - 11

Monday:  Continue with book cover designs.  You should be close to finished with 3 spreads + cover + handmade paper.  

Wednesday:  Continue with book cover designs.  You should be close to finished with 4 spreads + cover +handmade paper. 

Friday:  Continue with book cover designs.  You should be close to finished with 5 spreads + cover +handmade paper.  Final Finished Books Due for Critique on Thursday April 24th.

Week of March 24-28 and 31-April 4

Monday 3/24:  Demonstration on Book Binding Techniques and tools.  Get started on creating pages, cover and handmade paper.  Thumbnails and research were due last week. 

Wednesday3/26:  Work day on Books, make sure you've done your handmade paper for the book.  

Friday3/28: One spread or your cover should be almost finished.  How are you using Handmade paper? Mrs. Bjork will not be here.  I am attending the NAEA convention.

Tuesday 4/1:  A second spread should be complete.

Thursday 4/3: Mini-critique and grading of progress. 2 spreads, cover and hand-made paper are complete.

Week of March 17-21

Tuesday:  Continue with research posting your proposal on the forum below, sketchbook brain dump and thumbnail process for handmade/altered artist book unit.  Due end of class Thursday. Demonstration on types of hand made books and what you can do; types of supplies available. 

Thursday:  Demonstration on hand-made paper process.  How can you incorporate this into your design? Continue working on thumbnails and finalizing designs.

Week of March 10-14

Tuesday:  Critique on Abstract Works

Thursday:  Finish Abstract pieces based on Critique; introduction to next unit on Hand-made Artist Books.  USE the forum below to respond and complete the required research.  You will need to sign into the forum using your school Google account.

Supplies Needed for Daily Class

For daily class you need
  1. your laptop and you also will need
  2. a sketchbook - It should have at least 50 pages and be book or spiral bound.  8.5" x 11" or 9" x 12" is a perfect size.
  3. number two pencil.

Week of February 17-21

Tuesday:  Introduction to next unit, abstract art.  Introduction to collage techniques.  Begin planning and finding collage materials.

Monday & Wednesday:  Studio time to draw and paint and complete your Space Through Mood work of art.  Emphasis on showing interior space through mood, color and perspective.  

Friday: Critique of Space Through Mood drawing/painting.

Week of February 3-7

Tuesday 2/4
Get started on the Interior Space Assignment. Painters will have the opportunity to try oil paints.  Drawers will be using their choice of color media (chalk, oil pastel, color pencil, watercolor crayon or pencil). 

Emphasis in this project remember is on space, perspective, complex composition and mood through lighting.  Also consider architectural details.

  4. I will no longer be posting to School Fusion, so please make sure you've bookmarked this site. 

We will be making portfolios the first day or so of class.

Friday 1/31
Thumbnails and research for first project are due by the end of class.  Written proposal about your plan for the assignment.  All of this should be done in your sketchbook.
