DESCRIPTION
This yearlong course is designed to introduce the basic terminology, skills and aesthetic approaches used in all subsequent art classes. It is a foundation class, which emphasizes intuitive and creative thinking. The concepts studied will stress the elements and principles of design utilizing two-dimensional and three-dimensional media. Successful completion of this course is required to continue in subsequent art classes.

- Understand and employ the procedures in producing a quality work of art
- Be able to define the elements and principles of design
- Use a variety of media (drawing, painting and sculpting) to create art
- Practice proper care and storage of materials and equipment
