AP Art Exhibition Opens 1-17-23
Congratulations to the PHS AP Art and Design students for their first semester exhibition on display at PHS. The work on display is a culmination of first semester sustained investigation art work exploring art through inquiry based methods. Sustained investigation means that a student could choose to explore a concept, theme, thesis or technique to expand upon and create art.
Congratulations to: Lexi Gonzalez, Owen Borkenhagen, James Walter, Megan Bies, Jae Leveille, Zoe Kohler, Sol Eklund, Tvisha Rao, Lauren Shea for their outstanding work collaborating to create a unique exhibition. Here is a video overview of our department. Art Club Completes Memory Project
The Pewaukee High School Art Club is devoted to service in the community. This past school year our connections took us beyond Pewaukee and connected us to Sierra Leone through The Memory Project.
PHS was partnered with children from Sierra Leone and enlisted the help of a few non-Art Club artists to help create the 25 portraits. Students chose to work in media they felt comfortable using including acrylic paint, watercolors and digital painting/drawing. The results are fabulous and highlight each student artist's style through their interpretation of the young person. Here is the video of children from Sierra Leone receiving the portraits. For more on the project visit The Memory Project website. About the Memory Project: The Memory Project is a charitable nonprofit organization that invites art teachers and their students to create and donate portraits to youth around the world who have faced substantial challenges, such as violence, disasters, extreme poverty, neglect, and loss of parents. We want the portraits to help the children feel valued and important, to know that many people care about their well being, and to act as meaningful pieces of personal history in the future. For the art students, we want this to be an opportunity to creatively practice kindness and global awareness. Art Vocabulary Videos
