Welcome to the Pewaukee High School Visual Art Department. You will find many visual art resources, links to our programs, classes and more.
This website includes a great deal of helpful information. At the top you will find tabs and drop-down tabs for many of the outstanding programs and classes we offer. Students will find their assignments embedded in the class pages for each of the classes we teach. For syllabi and standards information click the Classes tab. There are lots of art galleries within this site. If you click on the class tab at the top a drop down menu will show all the classes we offer in the Visual Art Department. Each of those pages has a gallery of some of the works created by students in the course, (except for those that are new courses). There is also a chart of all the courses offered that may be helpful to plan your art future.

PHS Artists' works Chosen for State WAEA Youth Art Month Exhibition
PHS has 6 students whose work was chosen to go onto the State level exhibition celebrating Youth Art Month in March and April. The exhibition will be on display in the Madison State Capitol Rotunda from March 23 - April 5th with a closing reception and celebration on April 5th at noon.
Congratulations to the following PHS Artists whose art work was chosen to go onto the State Wisconsin Art Education Association Art Exhibition in Madison. Mr. Lamp's Students: Hailey Maynard, Kaelyn Stephenson, and Leah Docea Mrs. Bjork's Students: Katherine Nguyen, Elise Picard and Jessica Lacki. Mr. Lamp and Mrs. Bjork have chosen student artists to represent Pewaukee High School at the Wisconsin Art Education Association Youth Art Month Regional Exhibit at Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts this month.
The art works will be on display from January 12 - 25th with a reception and awards ceremony on January 25th from 6-7:30 at Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts. Congratulations to these student artists: Jaselle Lopez, Katherine Nguyen, Jessica Lacki, Sam Rhymer, Elise Picard, Leah Docea, Hailey Maynard, Kaelyn Stephenson, Sasha Rolfsmeyer, Will Nysse Special Congratulations to Jessica Lacki who received an award for her Printmaking Piece at the Regional Exhibition. AP Studio Art Exhibition Now Open
Come see the first semester AP Studio Art Exhibition featuring works from students' Breadth section portfolio. The student artists with works in the exhibition include: Sam Rhymer, Clara Gund, Jenna Brandl, Leila Gabrys, Katie Kiser, Elise Picard, Michaelle Starich, Yanna Glaspy, Paige Kettner and Elizabeth Laning. The exhibition will be on display from January 18 - February 8th during regular school hours.
PHS Visual Art Department Visits ItalyThis past summer marked the second Visual Art Department journey to Italy. It was a fantastic experience for the parents, students and teachers in attendance. The trip included stops in Venice, Ravenna, Florence, Assisi, Rome and Pompeii. Students experiences the rich culture of Italy including learning to make handmade pasta and fresh pomodoro sauce. Students also explored the art treasures of the cities visited. Worldstrides provided the fantastic guide Guilia and many other local guides as well. It was a rich and diverse opportunity to see art history come alive in such a beautiful locale.

We are both passionate about connecting the PHS Visual Art students to the many fantastic arts organizations and communities in Milwaukee and around the world. PHS Visual Art Students Win in State Scholastic Art CompetitionPewaukee High School Visual Art Department was recently notified that ten students won ten Awards including Silver keys and Honorable Mentions. Scholastic is a highly competitive State Exhibit that awards students for their exemplary efforts in Visual Art.
There are 3 levels of awards in Scholastic: Gold Key is the top award and has works being considered for National recognition, Silver Key is the next award with works being awarded at the State Level and Honorable Mention is the third State Level award. Gold and Silver Key works are exhibited at the Milwaukee Art Museum Scholastic exhibit from Feb 2–March 17, 2019 . There is a public reception and awards ceremony on Saturday, February 9 from 11:00 - 4:00. It honors all recipients including Honorable Mention. Students get to walk across stage and have their name and award announced in the Calatrava Atrium space at the Milwaukee Art Museum. Art History, AP Art History and AP Studio Art classes recently enjoyed a beautiful fall day visiting Chicago. The field trip included time at the Art Institute of Chicago, The Museum of Contemporary Art-Chicago and a walking tour of Millennium Park sculptures and garden. Students saw a variety of contemporary and historical art pieces by artists ranging from Picasso to Monet to O'Keeffe to Van Gogh and more. Students also had a chance to take in the many fantastic architectural details of the city during our walk up the Magnificent Mile.
The Memory Project: PHS Art Club Inspires Through Service
The PHS Art Club participated in The Memory Project. towards the end of the 2017-18 school year. The service oriented activity connects American students to groups of children who are living in extreme poverty, war or other difficult situations around the world.
