Inchies Exchange Kicks Off Art ClubArt Club kicked off the year with an inchie exchange. We all made tiny (one inch or so) sized works of art and then exchanged the creations as a getting to know each other activity.
Art Club RocksThe big rocks in the PHS student and teacher parking lot near the football field concession stand are getting a much needed upgrade via Art Club. Many drivers miss the rocks and hit them when backing up or pulling into the parking lots. This often happens in winter when it is difficult to see the rocks under the snow. Art Club was asked to try to make a difference with this community service project. We are in the process of brightly painting the rocks to make them more decoratively visible. Art club truly rocks!
How To Join Art ClubArt Club is open to students in grades 9-12 who love art and are interested in community service related to art.

The Pewaukee High School Art Club is devoted to service in the community. This past school year our connections took us beyond Pewaukee and connected us to Sierra Leone through The Memory Project.
PHS was partnered with children from Sierra Leone and enlisted the help of a few non-Art Club artists to help create the 25 portraits. Students chose to work in media they felt comfortable using including acrylic paint, watercolors and digital painting/drawing. The results are fabulous and highlight each student artist's style through their interpretation of the young person. Here is the video of children from Sierra Leone receiving the portraits. For more on the project visit The Memory Project website. About the Memory Project: The Memory Project is a charitable nonprofit organization that invites art teachers and their students to create and donate portraits to youth around the world who have faced substantial challenges, such as violence, disasters, extreme poverty, neglect, and loss of parents. We want the portraits to help the children feel valued and important, to know that many people care about their well being, and to act as meaningful pieces of personal history in the future. For the art students, we want this to be an opportunity to creatively practice kindness and global awareness. Congratulations to 2021-22 Officers

Some of Our Art Club Activities in 2020-21
Art Club has had some challenges with so many students being virtual and having to meet on alternating days during first semester, but through it all members have shone up and had fun. We've done some art related community service (Painting the gallery) and we've had a few parties (Halloween and Christmas) and we've made some great art (Bob Ross Day and Christmas party). Mostly we've enjoyed getting to know each other through our shared love of art. Here are a few photos of our escapades. Visit our Instagram feed for more.
