Getting Started: Day 1 & 2
We will be setting up our online and in class room learning environment in the first days of class. You will want to bookmark the following:
Supplies
For daily class you need your laptop and you also will need a sketchbook and number two pencil. The Sketchbook should have at least 50 pages and be book or spiral bound. 8.5" x 11" or 9" x 12" is a perfect size.
We will be making portfolios the first day or so of class.

Week of September 9-13Now that we have defined what drawing is and have identified the essential qualities of a good drawing this week will focus on learning the skills necessary to create effective, high quality drawings.
We will continue our review of the element of line in drawing through blind contour, contour, gesture and full line drawings. Remember that you will be creating your own still life compositions at each table. Make sure you have your sketchbook for each class. At the end of this review you will assess the body of work you've created in your sketchbook and on paper. Week of September 16-20
This week we will continue our exploration of line through perspective. We will also be participating in a drawing competition for Homecoming.
Monday: Button Drawing contest, finish 10 boxes in 1 and 2 point perspective. Turn into me! Tuesday/Wednesday: Go outside to draw in perspective from observation. Practice what you know about 1 and 2 point perspective. Bring in your photo to draw a two point or three point drawing of your choice. A day class turn in box drawings. Thursday/Friday: Continue our observational perspective drawing outside. Last day to draw. Line only in pencil. |
Week of Sept 23-27
Monday/Tuesday: Finish inking your observational perspective drawing (cafeteria or outside). 6-8 Thumbnails of your free choice perspective drawing are also due by the end of class.
Wednesday/Thursday: Get started on free choice perspective drawing. Due for critique next week Thursday/Friday. Friday: Continue working on free choice perspective drawings. Due for critique next week Thursday/Friday. Line Shows Space: PerspectiveThis week we will also begin learning about how to show space/depth in our drawings through the use of perspective.
HOMEWORK: Find a photo of a place that is meaningful to you (your own photo). Make sure it shows two point or three point perspective. Bring this to class for Thursday (B day) and Friday (A day) |
