Tuesday: Critique for B day class. Make sure your value rendering image is complete and ready for critique. Make sure you've written your artist statement explaining the media and rendering you chose and why. Intro to new unit. Wednesday: Critique for A day class. Thursday/Friday: Watch and listen to the embedded PowerPoint about Self Portraits. Take notes especially on the details of how to set up a portrait. Draw along in your sketchbook to practice setting up the proportions. Using the mirrors, develop sketches and expression studies for the Self Portrait unit. By the end of this class you should know which expression and position you plan to pose in for your self portrait. Download the description of the unit for details on what to do in your sketchbook. Monday/Tuesday: Finish Sketchbook 16 expression sketches + Features studies to prep for Self portrait. Demo on how to map out features and get to the portrait.
Wednesday/Thursday: Begin self portrait in chosen media. Learning Target is to create a fully rendered gray scale self portrait based on observation, that illustrates a unique point of view or expression and utilizes the appropriate rendering technique for the chosen media. Friday: Continue drawing and rendering self portraits from mirror observation. November 18 - 26
Monday 18th /Tuesday 19th: Work on expressive Self Portrait. Make sure it is fully rendered, expresses an emotion or unusual point of view and gets at who you are as a person.
