This website includes a great deal of helpful information. At the top you will find tabs and drop-down tabs for many of the outstanding programs and classes we offer. Students will find their assignments embedded in the class pages for each of the classes we teach. For syllabi and standards information click the Classes tab. There are lots of art galleries within this site. If you click on the class tab at the top a drop down menu will show all the classes we offer in the Visual Art Department. Each of those pages has a gallery of some of the works created by students in the course, (except for those that are new courses). There is also a chart of all the courses offered that may be helpful to plan your art future.
Creature Feature On Display in LibraryMs. Bjork's Introduction to Art class had a lot of fun creating sculptures that expressed their original ideas for creatures. Some are monsters, some are cute all explored a variety of sculpting techniques including soft sculpture and sewing, papier mäché with wire armatures and assemblage using recycled and found objects. Students researched the sculpture techniques, planned a creature and wrote a biography for their creature. Check out these creations in the PHS Library.

New Art Offerings in 2024-25 The PHS Visual Art Department proposed new art course offerings with a re-alignment of all classes. The most significant changes include removing the Introduction to Art Class and replacing it with Introduction to Drawing and Painting and Introduction to Ceramics and Sculpture and keeping Introduction to Digital Media. This will allow students to focus more specifically on media. This will allow students to progress sooner to their chosen media strand. We are also adding level 2 and 3 of each media strand to give students an opportunity to explore in their own chosen direction with the media and content of the courses. Watch for an explanation video coming soon. Here is a PDF version of the new course graphic that outlines the changes and the departmental offerings.
