Assignment Description: Line
Create a series of line drawings that demonstrate your knowledge of line including, blind contour, contour, gesture, open, closed, parallel and varied line. Goal for this unit is to investigate line as an element of art and also to explore varied media used in drawing.

Week of September 9-13
Monday/Tuesday 9/9-10: Finish Shoe Drawing exercise. Quick individual critique. Compare and contrast the two drawings and reply to the art ning blog post.

Wednesday/Thursday 9/11-12: Begin new unit on Line: Drawing using Blind Contour and contour lines and various drawing media.

Continue line unit by exploring Gesture line.

Week of September 16-20
This week we will continue to explore the element of Line in drawing. Our goal is to use a variety of line types in a variety of media.
Monday/Tuesday: Finish your sketchbook line designs in marker, conte crayon, pastel and charcoal. Write a reflection in your sketchbook that compares and contrasts the media and the drawing results. Draw blind contour hand drawings in marker on full sheets of paper.
Wednesday/Thursday: Review blind contour with quick bell work in sketchbook of person sitting across from you.
Gesture line exercise with models from class using conte crayon, charcoal and pastel. 3-4 sheets of newsprint.
A day students hand in your sketchbook on Thursday. See Google calendar for details on what should be in book.

B day students hand in your sketchbook on Friday. See Google calendar for details on what should be in book.
Review gesture and blind contour. Do a practice blind contour of object first on newsprint. Create contour line drawing of complex object on larger paper. Use marker (sharpie).

Begin creating a variety of line drawings of a complex object. Create a blind contour and contour drawing of the complex object to familiarize yourself with the object. Create a detailed, final line drawing of the complex object
Wednesday/Thursday
